The City of Yarra progressively introduced the 40kph speed limit as part of its Local Area Traffic Management program, which seeks to promote safe travel by all modes in specific precincts within Yarra. 

The Eco-Totem bike counter provides real-time and accurate data about bicycle presence on the adjacent path. The counter assists monitoring path usage which will assist planning and designing future bicycle infrastructure.
