National Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020

The strategy is based on Safe System principles and is framed by the guiding vision that no person should be killed or seriously injured on Australia's roads. As a step towards this long-term vision, the strategy presents a 10-year plan to reduce the annual numbers of both deaths and serious injuries on Australian roads by at least 30 per cent.

Blueprint for an active Australia

This 2009 report by the Australian Heart Foundation is based on research the Foundation conducted which indicated that residents in Australia’s major capital cities would prefer to be able to walk to a local bus stop than have a large backyard. The Australian results are consistent with earlier UK data that demonstrates a direct link between street quality and property prices.
